Nigerian Equities Market Analysis: August Performance and Market Trends

 Thanks Esther. So we are told we're going to have an August presentation in the month of August. I'm quite interested in the materiality of the topic of August. Again, 3.5%. However, we saw profit taken in the last week of the month. Investors booked some of the kinds that they've made in some of those investments in the topic. However, there are a lot of events like you mentioned. One, we are in Israel and the minister came in. Also in the month of August. In the next year, it caused that impact. Also, there was an knock on effect. So as M.T. and Radi saw some of the other big rigs also rally as well. Also, I think the under-meaf factor was one, the trade war. And we saw the yield curve in VAT in the US. And of course, that's in the recession. Every time the yield curve was reverted in the US from 1950 to date, there's always been a recession apart from two times. So we saw a lot of sell-off from the low-arg, government use to the government use. And we saw the sell-off in the major market and the central market as well, and the central market as well. So there was a sell-off in equity market, sell-off in the fixed income space as well. But majoring, I think the major contributing factor was the announcement that M.T. will include in the M.T. and M.T. and M.T.A. M.T.A. and of course, the market rally. There was a knock on effect. However, investors booked profits in the last week of the month. I was just taking a look at the key N.S. in the case of looking at the best performance, the best performance. So the best performance last month was the industrials. Up 1.6% of the worse performance. The Ellinga has down 12.6%. Was that a surprise for you? I mean, industrials. Some sketchy losses gained here and there, but I was a bit surprised to see that gained for the month. Yeah, I was surprised, right? Because the top-gena was one of the third-gena. Most of the big weeks, the banks, most of them, the cadets, the kind of losses in the month ago. Despite the fact that some of them were good dividend, so some of them declared good dividend. But of course, look at the results that we released. It also represents the weak macroeconomic condition. In terms of the consumer, also the Indian's were weak. We showed the consumer volatility still very weak. In terms of banks, in terms of gross, most of them didn't grow loan books in their cadet. There was a bit of a lot of lost performance from the bank as well. The union environment has been low. So for a lot of banks that used to request even cards, interest in coming from trading, that was not the case. So it just reflects the weak macroeconomic condition. Yes, it was in the start, not the meaning. But in terms of impacts, every of those new impacts in terms of the market. Because a lot of people that came back had this import volume. So I don't think that's the amount of investors enough. I was just speaking about the banks, just looking at some of the earnings, the fidelity of half year numbers were going to bad. Profit after tax up 15.5%. UBA also are not too bad. And also, stamping IBTC. Let's quickly talk about stamping IBTC, the numbers. Gross earnings up 2.7%. We did see a drop in net interest income. Profit before tax also dropped profit after tax. What is your assessment? You take it away from these numbers. Yes, for the stamping numbers, it's really a performance quite weak across major airlines. Yes, we saw top line growth, about 3%. In terms of the other variables, they all came down. You mentioned that net interest emerging came down. Though we saw an increase in interest in company, because net interest has plans increased more than net interest. Yes, so that made the net. In terms of stamping performance, so it's time that they have the private business and banking, which is the corporate investment. Drug was the private business and banking, which has to do long to individuals and long to businesses as well. So in terms of that, I am P.L.s. There was also I credit impairment as well. So they were only able to make $192 million in terms of profitability, or that part of the business. For the corporate investment and banking, there are about $24 billion, which was about 66% of profitability. For what? Money was about $12 billion. So for what management performance was flat, however, major drug was the private business and banking. But a few positive from the results, one in terms of the digitalization drive, that has increased significantly. So in terms of the transition, most of them were done through data platform as opposed to branches, which was on the case, so that's a good example. MPS still related to flat at 3.9%. But the performance was weak. However, we saw the market react positive last week. For the end of the game, it was last week. Do you think the Prab is not unconnected? When did I do it? Yeah, also the free flow of Islamic is not so much. I want to hear your thoughts on this. I'm sure you know the MTM recently also is seeking to become a payment service bank. Of course, you also saw it launching its mobile money transfer service. And this is a conversation we had with some banks here for you. It's how this is going to impact the business in the long run, because this is now for the telco, it's been seen as a new source of income, revenue stream for this, and they're all going to go for it. So I just want to make your thoughts on this. This launch by MTM and how banks are going to adjust to this. Do you think they're prepared? Obviously, it's been in the news all the time, so I suppose there's something in the office. Yeah, so I think it's in line with CBN's financial inclusion plan. Yeah, ultimately the bank's also benefit from it. So everybody's listening to eventually our bank account when we were the other. But of course, in terms of earnings, it might be a slight impact on the earnings of the bank, but I think ultimately the off-rancer sector will be better for it.
