The Power Table: Pan-African monetary policy review

The US Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates on Wednesday evening for the last time in the current hiking cycle as inflationary pressure in the worlds largest economy cool. South Africa recently hit the pause button on its rate hiking cycle for the first time in 19 months, while rates have been on hold in Mozambique since March. But the fight against inflation in other parts Africa is far from over. Inflation is soaring in the double digits in Nigeria, Ghana and Egypt. What impact will a potential Fed pause have on the rates path for the continent. And can African countries continue raising rates without plunging their economies into recession? CNBC Africa is joined by Isaac Matshego, Economist, Nedbank Group, Jee-A Van Der Linde, Senior Economist at Oxford Economics Africa and Thierry Kalisa, Chief Economist at Central Bank of Rwanda.
