Rwanda is carving a niche for itself in the global events economy by building triathlon as a sport to attract foreign tourists. After a successful edition of the Iron Man 70.3, CNBC Africa had a conversation with Bonita Mutoni, Managing Director of Global Events Africa, to discuss the significant strides Rwanda has made in positioning itself as a global events host. The approach to building an athletic culture in Rwanda involves collaboration with the Rwanda Triathlon Federation to harness local talent and qualify Rwandans for international championships. Mutoni highlighted the importance of developing triathlon as a sport and nurturing talent within the country. The ultimate goal is to establish Rwanda as a powerhouse in hosting major international sporting events. Rwanda's growing sporting culture is not only impacting the nation but also resonating across the continent.
