Ndiaye: Many business opportunities untapped in Africa & the Caribbean

The African-Caribbean Diaspora Alliance, a newly launched alliance, is set to bridge the gap and build a stronger economic partnership between Africa, the Caribbean, and global Africa. The initiative is being spearheaded by co-founder, Leila Ndiaye, who aims to accelerate trade, investment, and economic growth through the sports and entertainment business ecosystems. The alliance is set to kick off with an inaugural symposium at the Bahama Convention Center, focusing on the untapped potential in these sectors to create job opportunities, particularly for the youth. Ndiaye highlighted the powerful engine that sports and entertainment industries can be, not only in uniting people with a shared cultural heritage but also in generating employment. The sports industry alone has the capacity to create over 50 job roles, addressing the high demand for employment in Africa and the Caribbean. The alliance recognizes the cultural ties and business opportunities within these sectors as the foundation for their partnership. Moving forward, the alliance aims to explore other key verticals that can contribute to their desired outcomes, such as climate change, health, agriculture, and agri-processing. In particular, the focus will be on leveraging Africa as a direct source of goods for the Caribbean, reducing import costs, and stimulating job creation for both regions. The alliance is supported by Afreximbank and has been recognized as an official side event to Active 2024, emphasizing its role as a catalyst for promoting business ideas and encouraging investments between Africa and the Caribbean. Ndiaye stressed the importance of not just hosting conferences but also implementing actionable solutions to drive the partnership forward. Key stakeholders from the public and private sectors will convene to discuss and commit to tangible steps that will enhance business opportunities and investments between the two regions. The alliance is poised to be a platform for leaders to collaborate on bold ideas and ensure their execution for sustainable economic growth.
