Weaver birds rising: Ramaphosa's vision for a new South Africa

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Government of National Unity (GNU) will focus on three main areas in its five year term. That's driving inclusive growth and job creation, reducing poverty and the high cost of living, and building a capable, ethical, and developmental state. In his opening address of parliament last night, Ramaphosa said the GNU would pursue a national dialogue, which would help set the country up to be a Co-operation Nation. He called on the nation to be like the weaver bird – the most gregarious of birds that are able to build complex structures together through collaboration. To help kick off the GNU's call for a National Dialogue and share the private sector’s take, CNBC Africa is joined by Peter Attard Montalto, MD & Lead on Political Economy, Krutham, Stavros Nicolaou, Senior Executive, Strategic Trade, Aspen and BRICS Business Council Member and Anthea Gardner, Managing Partner, Cartesian Capital.
