<p>Energy is one of the important themes at this year’s Africa Investment Forum in Sandton. The idea of generating more energy, and specifically renewable energy was at the top of the agenda. <p>One of the big deals discussed at the Africa Investment Forum is the R17 billion waste-to-energy project in Gauteng Province. It involves the three big municipalities in the province. Noxolo Mtembu, Project Manager of Gauteng Infrastructure Financing Agency (GIFA) joins CNBC Africa’s Chris Bishop for more about this project, where the funding will come from and how it will be deployed.</p>

<p>The NBA is making good on its promise to bring the game to the African continent. The NBA announced in February this year that it will be launching the Basketball Africa League in March 2020. CNBC Africa’s Kopano Gumbi spoke to Deputy Commissioner &#038; Chief Operating Officer of the NBA – Mark Tatum, who explained that they were attending the Africa Investment Forum in Sandton to promote interest in basketball on the continent.</p>

<p>The Africa Investment Forum brought together African leaders, thinkers and investors to find ways to fill the gap between what the people need and what governments can do. For Board Member of the Enyimba Economic City in Nigeria, Chidiebera Onyia, it has been a learning process and provided a larger African perspective as his background has been mainly in North America and the development space. <p>The Africa Export-Import Bank, or Afrexim Bank for short, is one of the partners of the Africa Investment Forum which is underway in Sandton this week. The Bank sees the Forum as important from two perspectives. On the one hand, to bring together clients and their projects and look for partners and investors to participate in these – on the other hand to invest equity and provide support. Dr Benedict Oramah, President of the Africa Export-Import Bank spoke to CNBC Africa’s Kopano Gumbi.</p>
