<p>A small town in the Northern Cape has been at the center of a dispute between Australian mining company, Orion Minerals, and a group called the Siyathemba Community. Orion plans to rebuild a mine in Prieska but Siyathemba claims the community is not being trained and equipped to benefit from this project. <p>Following the fulfilment of all conditions in respect to Seriti’s acquisition of South32&#8217;s South African Coal Business, today Seriti assumed management of these operations. <p>RH Bophelo has come out with its financial results for the year ended February 2021. In its trading update, shareholders were advised that the Company expects to report net asset value per share of between R13.06 to R13.76, being an increase of 13 per cent and 19 per cent, compared to prior period R11.56. <p>The quarterly labour force statistics for the first quarter of 2021 are out and the unemployment rate has recorded a slight increase of 0.1 percentage point bringing the overall rate to 32.6 per cent. This is the highest it&#8217;s been in 13 years unemployment according to the expanded definition increased by 0.6 of a percentage point in quarter 1 to 43.2 per cent. <p>The ABSA Purchasing Managers&#8217; Index rose to 57.8 points in May, the highest it’s been in 7 months. Absa says four of the five subcomponents remained well above the neutral 50-point mark with only the employment index dipping back into negative terrain. <p>Energy company Renergen has decreased it headline loss per share by 23 per cent for the year ended February, but the company&#8217;s revenue also dropped by 27 per cent. Renergen says the R700 thousand drop in revenue was due to e COVID-19 lockdown which resulted in its subsidiary, Tetra4 not trading in April and May 2020. Renergen CEO, Stefano Marani joins CNBC Africa for more.</p>

<p>The half year results for Nampak are out and the company has reported a 151 per cent jump in headline earnings while revenue remained flat. The group says these results were driven by good growth in the Metals division, largely as result of strong performance in their Nigerian operations. <p>Vaccination Rollout: The total vaccinated under the Sisonke Programme is 479 768. The total vaccinated in Phase Two as at midnight today is 348 436. </p>
