UPDATE 1-UK Stocks-Factors to watch on July 16

July 16 (Reuters) – Britain’s FTSE 100 index is seen opening lower on Tuesday, with futures down 0.5%.

* OCADO: Ocado, the British online supermarket and technology group, on Tuesday reported a smaller first-half loss, said it was making “good progress” and raised its financial outlook for the full year.

* B&M: British discount retailer B&M reported lower like-for-like revenue in its UK business in the first quarter of fiscal 2025, due to wet weather dampening demand for seasonal items.

* SPECTRIS: British scientific instruments maker Spectris Plc said it has agreed to buy Georgia-based Micromeritics Instrument Corp for $630 million.

* VANQUIS: Vanquis Banking Group warned investors it did not expect to meet its goal to deliver a low single-digit return on tangible equity for its full year, as it tackles an in-depth balance sheet review and challenging trading.

* RIO TINTO: Global mining giant Rio Tinto reported second-quarter iron ore shipments below analyst estimates reflecting impacts to production from a train derailment in mid-May.

* RIO TINTO: Rio Tinto said its massive African iron ore project in Guinea that it is jointly developing with a Chinese consortium has received all the regulatory approvals.

* RIO TINTO: Rio Tinto said it has initiated a “coordinated shutdown” at the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Newfoundland and Labrador.

* SSE: French oil major TotalEnergies and UK power firm SSE are seeking to grab a 20% share of the electric vehicle fast-charging market in Britain and Ireland by launching a joint venture named Source, the companies said.

* OIL: Oil prices slipped on worries about a slowing Chinese economy crimping demand.
